Social responsibility

The impact every action can have on society

This is a subject that cannot be ignored. Social responsibility is not simply a choice—it is a commitment to the future and to the impact we have on the people around us.

From an early age, I was taught a simple principle: we should look after others, especially those who are most vulnerable.

As my mother used to say: “today it is them; tomorrow it could be us.”

You do not need to be wealthy to help. Small actions, within our means, can have a genuine impact on someone’s life.

“The beat of a butterfly’s wings can cause a hurricane on the other side of the world.”

Empathy Turned into Action

Social awareness has been with me since childhood. Inspired by family values and attention to the needs of others, I developed a way of seeing the world rooted in empathy.

Today, that approach is also reflected in how I work: listening, understanding and acting responsibly.

Impact

Small actions can create meaningful change.

Business

Social responsibility goes beyond charitable action

In business, social responsibility has two dimensions: internal and external—both essential to sustainable growth.

01

Internal dimension

This concerns employees, working conditions, safety, adaptation to change and environmental impact.

02

External dimension

This includes relationships with clients, communities and suppliers, as well as respect for human rights.

03

Wider impact

Business decisions directly influence society and the environment.

The Role of the Consumer

Modern consumers are increasingly discerning. They no longer look only for price or quality—they look for brands with values.

Companies that fail to demonstrate social responsibility tend to lose relevance, while committed brands earn trust and preference.

A More Balanced Society

Creating opportunities for others also creates a healthier market. A broader distribution of wealth supports greater purchasing power.

That benefits everyone—businesses, customers and the economy as a whole.

Balance

Sustainable growth depends on shared opportunity and responsibility.

A Concept with a History

Social responsibility is not a recent concept. In 1953, Howard Bowen laid its foundations with the work “Social Responsibilities of the Businessman”, marking the beginning of its formal development.

Today, more than ever, the subject occupies a central place in business strategy.

“Strong companies are built on results—but sustained by values.”

More than Property

Positive impact is also part of my work.

I believe every decision should create value—not only financially, but for people and society as well.
